About

Ann Somerset MilesI am a journalist and writer passionate about many things: landscape and the environment; folklore, history and places; books and poetry; sourcing good food and growing vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers. All this acts as a catalyst that inspires the creation of mixed-media stitched journals in fabric and paper.

78-years young, I became a freelance author, photo-journalist and mixed-media art-maker when ‘retiring’ from the magazine publishing company which my husband and I ran from 1967 to 1999. My work has appeared in a number of magazines – both on the printed page and online. Some have been a single article or report, others a regular series of features, or long-term on-going projects.

And now (early 2016) I am launching “ANN’S ART RETREATS” – a series of one-to-one tutored workshops on a wide range of creative themes in my own studio. During good weather, my wild acre of veg-plot, flower garden and orchard offers another source of inspiration, and somewhere to work.
